Summary:

If you’re excellent at working in a team and like to solve problems, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. We want to be the water company people want to be supplied by and want to work for. As a Leakage Technician in our Data PRV team, your main responsibility will be to maintain and repair our leakage data equipment and systems. We use advanced technology to locate and fix leaks to protect our water supply. We are already one of the top water companies in terms of leakage performance, but we constantly strive to improve.

In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment such as pressure reducing valves, data loggers, and water flow meters. You will also collaborate with colleagues on data logging and leakage projects. It is important that you have a strong customer focus, take pride in your work, and aim for the best outcomes. Ideally, you will have experience in leakage detection, water distribution networks, or water production. A company van will be provided for travel, and all you need is a clean driver's license.

You will work 37 hours per week on a shift rota between 7am and 7pm from Monday to Saturday, and there may be occasions when you are required to assist customers outside of regular hours. You may also be put on a standby rota, with hours agreed locally.

Main responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair all leakage data equipment and software systems effectively.
  • Maintain PRVs (and similar apparatus) identified by our maintenance program.
  • Troubleshoot data issues which could lead to zonal integrity and suspect flows. You’ll work with other departments to carry out DMA integrity checks when necessary.
  • Perform site surveys, repair, or replace defective data devices and PRV equipment and carry out installation and downloading of loggers as required.
  • Assist in the production of reports on data PRV repairs for reporting purposes.
  • Change or repair district meters and mechanisms on site in line with valve operating procedures and Health and Safety requirements.
  • Liaise with SEW customer contact centre staff, Production Staff, Engineering Staff, and other SEW staff on data / PRV related work and other leakage team activities.
  • Assist with South East Water Customers as required.
  • Work out of hours, to undertake night work and be available on call as required.
  • Perform all administrative requirements of the role (e.g., inputting work onto Nomad, GIS and other corporate systems).

You’ll need:

  • Knowledge and experience of pressure reducing valves, valve operations, flushing and main tracing.
  • Experience working in Leakage Detection and with PRVs.
  • A valid driving licence.
  • Able to work in confined spaces and carry out manual handling.
  • Know how to manage Health and Safety for teams and contractors.
  • Have good communication and customer service skills.

We want to be the water company people want to be supplied by and want to work for. We know the communities we serve are diverse. We recognise creativity comes from diversity not similarity. That’s why we are enthusiastic about creating inclusion across age, race, gender, ethnicity, religion and identity. You will experience our dedication to equal opportunities and fair treatment for all: through your recruitment, employment and career progression with South East Water.

Benefits package:

  • Excellent Stakeholder pension scheme, up to 10% employer contribution.
  • 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays per annum, increasing to 6 weeks with length of service.
  • Flexible annual leave policy to buy or sell holiday leave.
  • Paid volunteering days.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Health cash plan.
  • Life assurance.
  • Wellbeing related benefits.
