Join our Restoring Rivers & Catchments Team and help deliver meaningful environmental change. As a Project Officer, working in the west of our region, you’ll design and deliver a range of physical river and catchment enhancement projects—from early concept and design through to on‑the‑ground implementation. Projects may include weir removals, fish passage improvements, habitat restoration, wetland creation, SuDS and Natural Flood Management. This is an exciting opportunity to build on your experience, lead your own projects and contribute to a dynamic team making a real difference for rivers, wildlife and communities. Whilst you will be predominantly working on projects on the Loddon, Mole and Wey rivers, you may be required to work on other projects within the wider SERT region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and design river and catchment enhancement projects using sound science and best practice
  • Secure environmental consents, permissions and landowner agreements
  • Build strong, positive relationships with partners and stakeholders
  • Lead or support project delivery, including managing contractors, volunteers and colleagues
  • Ensure Health & Safety compliance across all project activity
  • Support communications, fundraising, monitoring and wider organisational work
  • Mentor Assistant Project Officers and contribute to a collaborative team culture

  • You should feel confident leading medium‑scale projects, working with a range of partners and contributing to the wider goals of the organisation.
