South Holland District Council is looking to recruit a Street Cleansing Operative to work 37 hours per week, Thursday to Monday. The role involves regular contact with members of the public, so good verbal communication skills and the ability to follow Council policies and procedures are essential.
Duties will include the use of equipment such as mechanical hand sweepers and blowers, and carrying out checks on public safety equipment, including lifebuoys. This is a physically demanding role and will involve periods of walking, pushing mechanical sweepers or barrows, lifting and removing waste (including fly‑tipping), and emptying bins. You must be able to remain visually and audibly alert to hazards, particularly when working in areas with high pedestrian or traffic footfall. You will also be responsible for the safe use and care of vehicles and equipment. There may also be occasions where you are required to lock and unlock public buildings, or cover duties during periods of annual leave or sickness.
