Role Description
The Sheet Metal Worker role is a full‑time, on‑site position based at SEFAB’s facility in East Grinstead.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities include fabricating and assembling sheet metal components such as flashings, gutters, trims, and related products using hand tools and powered equipment.
The role involves measuring, cutting, bending, and shaping metal to specification, reading and interpreting drawings, and ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards.
The Sheet Metal Worker will work closely with the fabrication team to meet production schedules, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and assist with other metalworking tasks as needed.
Occasional support for custom or non-standard sheet metal projects may also be required.
Qualifications
- Proficient in sheet metal fabrication, including working with Sheet Metal and general Metalworking techniques.
- Skilled in the safe and effective use of Hand Tools and standard fabrication equipment.
- Experience with Welding or other joining methods used in metal fabrication.
- Background in metalwork for specialized applications, such as Aircraft components, is an advantage but not required.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, measurements, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, safety, and accurate workmanship.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a workshop team.
- Prior experience in a fabrication, roofing, cladding, or construction‑related environment is beneficial.
- Relevant vocational training or apprenticeship in metal fabrication or a related trade is preferred.
