About The Role

Based at our Bennet Road Depot (Reading, RG2 0QX), you will carry out floor laying and associated repair work in a variety of Council-owned or managed properties including houses, flats, and maisonettes. Work will be carried out across Reading with no long-distance travel required. This role involves working mainly in occupied homes, therefore delivering excellent customer service and treating residents with respect is essential.

Your Duties Will Include

  • Installing a range of floor coverings including vinyl, laminate and modern flooring systems
  • Preparing subfloors and carrying out flooring repairs
  • Assessing materials required for jobs and collecting them from stores or suppliers
  • Completing work orders, job sheets and timesheets accurately
  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship and site cleanliness
  • Identifying additional repair needs where necessary
  • Following health and safety procedures at all times

Requirements

  • City & Guilds / NVQ in Floorcovering (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in domestic flooring, repairs and refurbishment environments
  • Knowledge of building trades and construction
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Strong customer‑service approach when working in occupied homes
  • Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Full UK driving licence (required for travelling between properties)
