This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Information Governance Manager to join our Law & Governance team.

The Role

We are looking for an Information Governance Manager to lead and develop the strategic and operational aspects of the Council’s Information Governance function, including local land charges and the information access regimes (FOI and EIR) who will report to the Deputy Director of Law & Governance.

Your Role Will Involve:

  • Acting as the Council’s statutory Data Protection Officer, shaping a corporate data protection strategy which effectively monitors and measures the organisation’s compliance with data protection law.
  • Maintaining a robust information access regime to ensure that relevant legislation is upheld to the highest standards across the organisation.
  • Maintaining strategic oversight of the organisation’s statutory functions that are delivered by partner organisations and their compliance with data protection law.
  • Delivery of a high-quality and legally compliant data protection service to the Borough’s schools and academies who opt-in to the service.

What We Are Looking For:

  • A qualified data protection practitioner with strong expertise in UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, FOI, and EIR, with significant experience managing compliance, data protection risks, information rights requests, and IG policies.
  • Ability to interpret complex legislation, advising senior leaders, and leading staff.
  • Excellent communication, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach.
  • Confidence in delivering training, supporting cultural change, and maintaining robust governance frameworks across the organisation.
