The Role
The HR Generalist will play a crucial role in supporting various HR tasks and activities that span the range of the Human Resources service. The main objective will be to provide comprehensive HR support throughout the team, from recruitment and administration to employee relations and benefits. Reporting directly to the Service Leads, the role will be instrumental in ensuring a positive employee experience.
Your Role Will Involve
- Partnering with the recruitment team to attract, recruit and onboard permanent, temporary and agency staff, acting as a key point of contact for agencies and hiring managers.
- Managing end‑to‑end employee lifecycle administration, including onboarding and offboarding, drafting contracts and HR correspondence, and providing timely, customer‑focused HR advice.
- Providing practical support to HR Business Partners across employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary and grievance cases, ensuring policies are applied fairly and consistently.
- Supporting organisational development and operational HR activities, including learning and development administration, job evaluation and payroll processes for the council and schools as required.
- Supporting high‑impact HR programmes and projects that strengthen the council’s employee experience and promote a positive, consistent people culture.
What We Are Looking For
- Level 3 CIPD or above, or relevant experience.
- Demonstrate previous experience in HR, including an understanding of HR and processes, such as recruitment, onboarding, learning and development and payroll.
- Experience with iTrent system. (Desirable)
- Experience of working in Local government. (Desirable)
