Wealden District Council is a forward-thinking authority with great opportunities. We are looking for a Planning Policy GIS Officer who is enthusiastic, empathetic, and ambitious to join our busy team.
The role involves:
- Preparation and successful delivery of the Council’s new Local Plan.
- Supporting the Team Leader and Planning Policy Manager in managing spatial planning data.
- Displaying and communicating spatial data through various methods including on paper, electronically, and verbally.
We are developing innovative policies supporting our District’s journey to net zero and reversing the biodiversity crisis. Our communities are very active in Neighbourhood Planning and need support as they develop their plans.
Required skills, knowledge, and abilities:
- Substantial experience in a technical or data-driven role.
- Proven knowledge of specialised software packages, particularly those associated with the ERSI product suite, including ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, and StoryMaps.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Maintain a positive and creative attitude towards work tasks.
- Work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
