Role Overview

The Car Parking Department is looking for a motivated and dependable individual who can take ownership of a varied and highly visible role within the community.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out regular inspections of Council owned car parks and represent the Council consistently with the highest standards of customer service, pride, and community service.
  • Issue Excess Charge Notices, identify sources of Car Parking infringements and report these.
  • Assist in the daily management of car parks by reporting orders for repairs and signage.
  • Maintain the Council’s Pay and Display Machines.
  • Work as required on a rotating weekend schedule – approximately one weekend every two, with appropriate days off during the week.

This is a 5‑day working week role, including a rotating weekend schedule: approximately one weekend every two, with appropriate days off in lieu during the week.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Comfortable working in a public‑facing, operational environment.
  • Calm and decisive under pressure, particularly in emergency situations.
  • ICT skills including experience using Microsoft Office products.
  • Committed to delivering excellent public services.

Vehicle will be provided for work use only, based at the Council Offices, Hailsham.
