Contract Type: Permanent, Fractional. 22.2 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

We are looking for an engagingLecturer in Social Science to join South Devon College. You will deliver inclusivelearning experiences to students, supporting them to build the confidence, resilience and academic skills required for progression to higher-level study or employment.

Social Science courses within the 6th Form, Education and Behavioural Sciences curriculum area currently range from Level 1 to Level 6. You will be able to teach Social Science at Level 1 and have the flexibility to contribute to a range of Social Science-related subjects and levels.

What you will do

• Plan and deliver engaging teaching, tutorials and learner assessments.

• Manage, review and develop learning programmes, curriculum content and teaching resources.

• Monitor learner progress, conduct individual reviews and produce learning plans and reports.

• Assess and mark learners’ work, including examinations, and undertake verification or moderation where appropriate.

• Provide guidance and pastoral support, ensuring that learners’ individual support needs are addressed.

• Contribute to quality assurance, programme evaluation and continuous improvement.

• Maintain accurate learner records and support admissions, enrolment and attendance processes.

• Build positive relationships with colleagues, learners and internal and external partners.

• Participate in professional development and maintain current subject knowledge.

• Support College events and marketing activities, acting as a positive ambassador for South Devon College.

Who we are looking for

You will hold a degree or vocational qualification in a Social Science-related subject, such as Psychology. You will also have a recognised teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one within three years of starting the role.
