Northern State University seeks a motivated Electrician Apprentice to support campus electrical operations and contribute to the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our facilities. Under the supervision of a licensed Electrician, the Electrician Apprentice assists in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment across academic buildings and residence halls.
Responsibilities:
- Assist licensed electricians with the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, fixtures, and equipment.
- Support routine inspections of electrical components to ensure compliance with codes, safety standards, and preventative maintenance schedules.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of tools, materials, and safety practices associated with electrical work.
- Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively, and maintain professionalism in a campus environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in various environmental conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience assisting with electrical or general maintenance work.
- Strong problem‑solving and customer service skills.
Department Description and Cultural Expectations:
Full‑time; typical hours are Monday–Friday, with occasional evening or weekend assignments in support of campus operations. Will report to the Assistant Director of Facilities.
