The Northern State University Honors Program seeks applicants for a part-time Coordinator of the Honors Program.
Duties
- This individual works closely with the Director of the NSU Honors Program to advance the work of the program.
- The NSU Honors Program is a network of academically motivated students who are inspired to use their gifts and talents to better themselves and enrich the Northern community.
Knowledge and Skills
- Working with multiple departments across campus, including Admissions and Alumni Association.
- Establishing and maintaining communication and filing systems.
- Creating and maintaining databases in Excel.
- Gathering and presenting information.
- Maintaining confidentiality of student records.
- Handling purchasing paperwork and travel documents.
- Working with computer programs, especially Microsoft Office.
- Marketing and event planning.
- Communicating using business English with proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Communicating ethically, both orally and in writing.
Abilities
- Prioritise responsibilities and self-start on projects.
- Gather, compare, and summarise data from a variety of sources.
- Create systems of communication and help develop communications for Honors constituencies, including prospective Honors students, current Honors students, and Honors alumni.
- Provide positive feedback to Honors students and effectively aid them in problem solving.
- Write, edit, and distribute a semi-annual Honors newsletter.
- Check formatting on Honors theses.
- Help Honors students and director take ideas and turn them into viable programs.
- Guide and track assessment of Honors student progress and maintain database of Honors alumni.
- Collaborate with Honors students, including Honors Resident Assistant, Honors Club officers, and Honors Mentors to help develop and achieve program and club goals.
- Assist with major Honors Programs, including the NSU Common Read.
Qualifications
- Will report directly to the Director of Honors Program.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; sponsorship is not available for this position.
