Join our team at the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired and play an important role in creating nutritious, welcoming meals for our students. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive school environment where your cooking skills directly contribute to the daily experience and well-being of students.

Position Summary

  • Prepare and cook meals and snacks according to established menus and recipes.
  • Prepare meals that meet individual student dietary requirements.
  • Serve meals to students, staff, and visitors.
  • Monitor food and supply needs and communicate shortages to the supervisor.
  • Set up and maintain the dining and food service areas.
  • Wash dishes and clean and sanitize kitchen, dining, and storage areas.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous cooking or food service experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

This position requires extended periods of standing and the ability to perform food preparation, serving, dishwashing, cleaning, and other physical tasks associated with a school kitchen.
