Northern State University seeks an Assistant Professor of Human Performance/Exercise Science in the Department of Sports Sciences.
Responsibilities
- Full‑time, 9‑month tenure‑track faculty position.
- Teaching twelve credits per semester (4/4 load) in face‑to‑face and online undergraduate and graduate courses in a learner‑centered environment.
- Supervising undergraduate/graduate research and mentoring graduate students.
- Engaging in scholarly activity.
- Serving the university and community.
- Serving as Human Performance & Biomechanics Laboratory Director, overseeing laboratory operations, supervising graduate assistants, collaborating with athletics and community partners, and supporting accreditation and program development initiatives.
Qualifications
- Applicants with an earned doctorate in Exercise Science, Biomechanics, Kinesiology, or a related field are preferred. ABDs who will complete their degree before the date of appointment will be considered.
- The candidate should be able to teach a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate courses within the Human Performance and Sports Sciences programs and demonstrate experience employing successful pedagogical strategies in the collegiate classroom setting.
- The candidate should assist in operating the Human Performance & Biomechanics Laboratory, integrating biomechanical analysis and applied performance assessment into coursework and research experiences.
- Preference will be given to candidates who hold professional certification (e.g., CSCS, ACSM‑EP) and demonstrate active engagement within organizations such as the NSCA, ACSM, or ASB.
