Assistant Professor/Instructor of Communication Studies

Qualifications

  • MA in Communication Studies (Instructor) or PhD in Communication Studies (Assistant Professor) – or closely related field
  • ABD with a definite completion date will be considered
  • Commitment to undergraduate education
  • University‑level teaching experience preferred
  • Ability to conduct research in the candidate’s area of expertise
  • Specialization open; expertise in strategic event communication, digital media and communication platforms, and/or health communication particularly encouraged

Responsibilities

  • Teach twelve credit hours per semester in introductory and upper‑level Communication Studies courses, including CMST 101 Fundamentals of Communication and upper‑level courses
  • Contribute to developing interdisciplinary components within the Communication Studies curriculum
  • Engage in research and scholarly activity
  • Provide career advising and foster connections with community organizations
  • Maintain a strong campus presence and support student recruitment and retention efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including teaching First Year Seminar
