Northern State University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Education in the Department of Teacher Education at the rank of Assistant Professor or Instructor.
The successful candidate will teach face-to-face and online courses in a learner‑centered environment and demonstrate the versatility to contribute across licensure areas.
Responsibilities
- Teach both undergraduate and graduate courses (for the Assistant Professor rank).
- Mentor graduate students.
- Supervise undergraduate teacher candidates in field experiences.
- Support undergraduate and graduate research.
- Engage in scholarly activity consistent with tenure‑track expectations.
- Provide service to the university, profession, and community.
- (For the Instructor rank) Focus primarily on undergraduate teaching and supervision of teacher candidates in field experiences.

Qualifications
- An earned doctorate in education or a closely related field is preferred for appointment at the Assistant Professor rank.
- ABD candidates who will complete their degree prior to the date of appointment will be considered.
- Candidates with a master’s degree in education and significant relevant experience may be considered for appointment at the Instructor rank.
- Preference will be given to individuals with recent Pre K–12 classroom experience.
- Ideal candidates have experience teaching across a variety of grade levels and demonstrate effectiveness in integrating instructional technology into teaching and learning.
- Experience working with English learners is also highly valued.
- Successful applicants will possess the breadth and flexibility to teach a diverse range of undergraduate—and, for tenure‑track faculty, graduate—education courses.
