London Gateway is the UK's most integrated logistics hub; a state-of-the-art deep-sea port, rail terminal and logistics park on the same site. SCPS has a long tradition of port operations – over six decades. Together we provide skills and services to operators and other customers at DP World London Gateway.
The purpose of our Terminal Operative role is to support in unloading and loading cargo containers within the port providing pinning, lashing and heavy plant driving services in line with our customer requirements. Full training and PPE will be provided, and no previous experience is necessary. This is a physically demanding industry where it is imperative all operatives work in a safety critical environment, as a team and looking out for each other.
Stanford Le Hope, Essex - £17.40 per hour (Overtime £22.62 p/h) 12hr shifts to cover a 24-hour operation Immediate Start / no experience necessary.
Duties Include:
- Pinning – a task whereby a twistlock is placed into or removed from each underside corner of the container. The twistlocks lock the stacks of cargo containers together when on the vessel.
- To lash cargo containers on board vessels in a safe and efficient manner. (Lashing – when containers are secured/unsecured on ships for transport).
- Progression from Pinning and Lashing onto Shuttle Carrier & Terminal Truck driving – moving cargo containers from quayside to landside.
- Other duties associated with vessel loading/discharging operations and mooring.
- Monitor, maintain and support work practices with particular focus on Health & Safety.

Schedule Availability:
- 12 hour shifts – mixture of days and nights, inclusive of weekends
- Overtime regularly available
