South Coast Nursing Homes is a family‑owned provider of care across East and West Sussex, with nine registered homes and a new home The Poets in Central Worthing.

Position & Reward

Registered Nurse – Full‑time nights, maternity cover until September 2026, at Abundant Grace, Seaford. Hours – 36 hours per week. Must be available every other weekend. Reporting to the Home Manager, the role involves working with an experienced clinical team to carry out planned, proactive and reactive clinical duties. This is a hands‑on role and appropriate experience and relevant qualifications are paramount.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standards of patient care, ensuring the health and safety and welfare of all residents.
  • Champion patient choice and autonomy; ensure all staff work in a dignified and respectful way.
  • Support and assist in managing the whole care team when on duty; work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver excellent resident care and exemplary communication.
  • Promote good morale among staff and continuously strive to improve effective team working and develop teams that need support.
  • Foster relationships with families, advocates and next of kin and keep them informed of all changes to the residents’ physical and emotional well‑being.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed comprehensively, concisely and in a timely manner, including generation of individualised care plans and clear documentation of events, conversations and formal arrangements with outside agencies and other professionals.

Essential

  • Experience in a nursing role within the UK.
  • A nursing degree or above.
  • Able to prioritise between tasks to achieve the most satisfactory outcome.
  • Good reporting skills, both verbal and non‑verbal.
  • Previous clinical experience in geriatric, frailty, end‑of‑life and dementia care.

  • Hands‑on in their approach and a can‑do attitude.
  • Able to think on their feet and under pressure when dealing with multiple tasks.
  • Good communication skills and confidence when interacting with staff, residents, managers, directors and contractors.
  • Some IT skills such as Excel, Word, MS Office; accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
