South Coast Nursing Homes is an established and successful, family-owned and managed care home company, with a head office based in Worthing, West Sussex. We currently operate 9 homes across East and West Sussex, offering 411 beds. Each registered home provides high standards of resident care and comfort, 24/7, for both long and short-term stays.
Reporting to our People and Business Executive, this role is part of the Senior Leadership Team. It involves leading a team of Head Chefs/Chefs and other catering professionals to deliver outstanding, home-cooked, nutritious meals across our portfolio. Recognizing the importance of dining in a care setting, the Executive Chef will ensure high-quality menu options are available daily, inspiring their team through leadership, training, and guidance.
The Executive Chef will continuously seek to enhance the food offering, creating innovative dishes that delight residents, including considerations for presentation, cleanliness, and hygiene. This role covers all our homes from Seaford to East Preston and Haywards Heath. Maintaining consistent high standards across all locations is vital.
Additional responsibilities include ingredient planning and purchasing, monthly kitchen audits, equipment training, and engaging with kitchen staff to uphold standards and vision.
Essential Skills, Qualifications, and Knowledge:- Inspiring leader of a department of over 50 kitchen staff.
- Level 2 Chef (Professional Cooking) qualification minimum.
- 3-5 years’ experience managing an operation with approximately 400 covers.
- Food Hygiene Level 3 qualification or higher.
- Clean driving license.
- Computer literacy.
- Experience in care home catering and understanding of residents' individual needs.
- A dedicated leader committed to high standards of food quality.
- Resilient, ethical, and inspiring.
- Ability to think quickly and handle multiple tasks, including hands-on involvement when necessary.
- Excellent communication skills across all levels.
