South Coast Nursing Homes is an established and successful, family owned and managed, care home company based in Worthing, West Sussex. We currently operate 9 homes across East and West Sussex and have 414 beds. Each registered home offers the highest standards of resident care and comfort, 24 hours – day and night, for long and short-term stays.

We are recruiting for a Kitchen Assistant to join our team at The Poets in Worthing.

Hours: 27hrs per week - 10am - 7pm - Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday (some flexibility may be required)

Reporting into the Head Chef, the purpose of this role is to assist in maintaining a quality Kitchen and catering service for our residents.

Job responsibilities:

  • To wash and dry all meal time crockery and cutlery using equipment and facilities provided.
  • Cleaning of all food trays following use on their return to the kitchen.
  • To wash and dry all bowls, trays, saucepans etc as used by the Head Chef promptly and efficiently.
  • Ensure the food preparation areas are clean and hygienic.
  • Washing utensils and dishes and making sure they are stored appropriately.
  • Washing, peeling, chopping, cutting vegetables and cooking porridge and helping to prepare salads and desserts.
  • Preparing breakfast.
