Salary: £28,514 – £30,345, per annum, depending on experience

Aims of Job/Job Purpose

1.To deliver the personal development curriculum at South and City College Birmingham through the delivery of tutorial and enrichment activities within a chosen faculty

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

1. Delivery of Personal Development Curriculum (24 hours per week)

·Deliver engaging and impactful tutorial sessions to students that focus on personal development.

·Provide one-on-one coaching to students when needed, helping them to identify their goals and create actionable plans for personal and academic growth.

· Working in liaison with other college staff, to signpost students to the range of support services available to them, including financial, academic, social, and emotional issues, which may be having a detrimental effect on their studies.

·Develop and implement strategies to support students in overcoming personal, social, and academic challenges.

·Monitor and track personal development throughout the academic year, providing timely feedback and interventions where necessary.

·Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to participate actively and take ownership of their development.

· Provide absence cover for other Progress Development Coaches where necessary.

· Work with Teaching Assistants if required.

2.Delivery of Enrichment Activities (5.5 hours per week)

·Plan, deliver, and evaluate enrichment activities and events that enhance students\’ personal growth and life skills outside the curriculum.

·Develop programmes that support personal wellbeing, cultural awareness, leadership skills, and community engagement.

·Encourage student involvement in extracurricular activities that complement their learning and enhance their overall college experience.

·Work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to deliver exciting enrichment opportunities.

·Supporting faculty staff and placement team with employability activities, communicating with employers to arrange talks, visits, etc.

·Support the delivery of Competitions.

3.Administration and Reporting (7 hours per week)

·Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student participation, achievements, and progress in both tutorial and enrichment sessions.

·Provide regular reports to the Deputy Head of School and Tutorial Coordinator, including feedback on student engagement and outcomes.

·Contribute to the review and development of the personal development curriculum to ensure it remains relevant and aligned with student needs and institutional objectives.

·Ensure all personal development activities meet relevant academic and safeguarding standards.

·Support curriculum with enrolment and induction planning and delivery.

·Communicating with parents and learners regarding attendance to vocational, Math and English, tutorial, and enrichment.

4.General Duties

·It is the responsibility of Personal Development Coaches to:

·Take part in CPD activities to prepare you for delivery and your own professional development. To include an introductory teaching course,

· to contribute to the College achieving its strategic aims

· to understand and apply the College’s relevant policies, procedures and practices

· to meet the professional requirements by working within a professional value base and conforming to agreed codes of professional practice and conduct.

· Comply with internal and external quality standards and contribute to the College’s strategic aims.

· Comply with college policies and procedures and health and safety regulations.

· Support the safeguarding and promotion of students’ welfare.

· Maintain confidentiality in relation to all College information and to comply with Data Protection Legislation.

· Participate in the College’s Appraisal scheme and undertake any training as required.

· Support and actively participate in the implementation of the College’s Equal Opportunity policies.

·Experience of communicating with stakeholders, such as parents, guest speakers, and employers.

·Experience of presenting to groups on a variety of subjects that relate to personal development topics (desirable)

Coaching and mentoring skills:

·Experience of coaching or mentoring programmes that support personal development.

·Experience of leading on coaching or mentoring programmes that support personal development. (desirable)

Organisational skills:

·Ability to balance multiple responsibilities and maintain high levels of organisation and attention to detail.

·Proficiency using Microsoft 365, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word

·Experience of using educational tracking systems (desirable)

Creativity:

·Ability to plan and coordinate innovative, engaging, and impactful enrichment activities.

·Experience of planning team-based activities.

·Experience of leading a creative project with successful outcomes (desirable)

·Experience of working in a team, showing willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues across the college.

·Experience in a team leader/supervisor role responsible for the performance of a team (desirable)

·Knowledge of the Further Education sector

·Understanding of the challenges faced by FE students and the role of personal development in ensuring our learners thrive during their programme of study.
