Job Description: Attendance Monitor (Part Time, Term Time) – Longbridge Campus and Hall Green Campus, UK.

Duration: Term Time 38 weeks, until June 2027.

Salary: £12,835 per annum (based on a full‑time year of £24,626).

Application closing date: 19 June 2026.

Overview: Work as part of the Student Support Services team to promote student punctuality, attendance and safeguarding for all learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer a daily attendance and punctuality check each morning and contact home by phone/text if students are not in college.
  • Administer more regular attendance and punctuality checks for groups of identified vulnerable learners, including but not limited to Looked‑after Children and Care Leavers.
  • Access, read and analyse absence data throughout the working day to establish patterns that might need to be followed up from a safeguarding perspective and refer as appropriate.
  • Identify students where appropriate action regarding attendance needs to be taken and advise the appropriate staff.
  • Contact student engagement regarding student absences where there are students who may require referral to external agencies.
  • Telephone students or their parents/guardians, and report accurately on absence or absence patterns and record or input responses obtained.
  • Book 1‑1 meetings with personal tutors and students (with parents if required) at the request of the Deputy Faculty Head.
  • Relay those responses to relevant curriculum and support staff.
  • Keep systematic and live record of all calls made and letters, emails or SMS messages sent using the relevant college information systems.
  • Ensure that all key staff are kept updated on student absence.
  • Contribute to development of new ideas and initiatives to improve attendance and punctuality.
  • Make direct contact with students by visiting class when deemed necessary to ascertain reason for absence.
  • Liaise and refer students to Student Engagement for specialist support and guidance as appropriate.
  • Develop excellent working partnerships with students and parents/carers to promote the importance of good attendance and punctuality.
  • Work with Safeguarding and Support Team to communicate growing concerns.
  • Meet weekly with the Deputy Faculty Head (with Head of School if required) to discuss students whose attendance is causing concern and to assess intervention strategies.
  • Check that staff are completing registers correctly.
  • Produce a weekly summary of attendance data for the Deputy Faculty Head and communicate to staff.
  • Administer all necessary IT administration, maintenance and report generation.
  • Maintain and develop own knowledge, skills and experience through formal training, staff development activities and networking including with referral agencies.
  • Adhere to College equal opportunities policies, procedures and practices.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Provide a minimum of two suitable references covering a 5‑year period.
  • Undergo pre‑employment checks, including enhanced DBS, Prohibition check, Childcare Disqualification (where applicable), qualifications (where applicable), medical fitness, identity and right to work.
