An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right individual to fulfil role of Head of Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR). This is a permanent, full-time position (37.5hrs per week) commencing in March 2025.

The post holder is accountable for all aspects of EPRR (including HART) within SCAS, ensuring that the services are delivered to agreed quality, financial and legal standards.

The post holder requires strong leadership skills and experience to drive change in line with the strategic direction of the Trust.

You will lead a diverse team of people, and the role will require strong working relationships across internal and external stakeholders.

Tosupportthe AssistantDirectorof Operations byprovidingoperationalleadershipandaccountabilityforadelegated department ofSCAS.

As a senior manager within South Central Ambulance Service you will be required to provide strong leadership to your team to ensure the effective provision of services, and to champion change in the organisation. You will hold your team to account, provide support and ensure they foster a positive attitude towards the organisation.

You will lead collaborative working with internal and external partners, agreeing and delivering services that meet local and national needs.

You will be accountable for the ability of SCAS to fulfil its responsibilities under all relevant legislation / requirements, including the Civil Contingencies Act and the EPRR Core Standards., All new starters need to attend our *Corporate Induction in person, this is held over one and half days from our educational centres based in: Newbury (Berkshire), Bicester (Oxfordshire) or Whiteley (Hampshire). More specific details will be sent to you once your start date has been confirmed.

*Please note – depending on your role additional training may be required following on from your corporate induction.

KEYDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES’

Operational,StrategicandClinicalGovernance:

  1. Indirectlyaccountableforthedeliveryof EPRRacross the Trust. Liaising directly and working in partnership with stakeholders, devising plans for Organisational resilience against national and local quality standards and requirements, and other key performance indicators.

  2. Ensure the highest standards of patient care are delivered by the Trust. Working together with the Patient Safety & Clinical Directorate, promoting and encouraging stafftocontinuouslyimprove thequalityof thecaretheydeliver topatients whileensuringthat clinicalstaffaredeliveringcareinemergency,urgentandprimarycaresettingstoagreed performancestandards ensuringriskstothetrust, staff andpatientsareminimised and monitored.

  3. EnsurethattheEPRRManagementTeamdeliverthestandardsofperformance and patient care and achieves agreed local and national standards, monitored against contractual obligations and that performance meets the expectations of the trust, providing support and guidance as necessary.

  4. Develop collaborative working relationships with stakeholders to identify and deliver therequirementsofEPRR andotherlegislationtotheTrust’sneeds,seekingnew business opportunities, in line with the strategic direction of the trust.

  5. Accountable for the implementation of the Trust’s EPRR agenda in relation to operationaldeliveryinspecifickeyareas,ensuringthattheOperationalManagement Team understand their responsibilities in relation to the delivery of the regulations.

  6. Workincollaboration withtheAssistantDirectorof Operationstomeetthedemandsof the service, overseeing the implementation of strategic changes, plans for improvement and service redesign in a balanced and achievable way, ensuring these do not impact detrimentally on service delivery and that stakeholders, both internal and external, are engaged at all stages of the implementation.

  7. Workincollaboration withSeniorCallCentreManagerswithinCCCtoensureeffective resilience for our key communication systems.

  8. Ensure that operational delivery teams have an understanding of the need for EPRR/Business continuity awareness within the health care landscape, liaising closely withManagerstoensurealloutwardfacingencounterstakeaccountofthepossibilities and potential liabilities.

  9. The Post Holder will ensure that SCAS has a robust Business Continuity Plan in placeforeachdepartmentundertheirresponsibility andbefullycompetenttoundertake any appropriate designated role within the SCAS, appropriate to their qualification orregistration.

  10. Workcollaboratively withtheHeadsof operationstoensurethereisarobustsystem of emergency and resilience planning and management, and that the Trust has the appropriate capacity and capability to respond to civil emergencies across the Trust.
