South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated HART Education Manager to join the HART Training Team at Winchester & Eastleigh Resource Centre, on a permanent basis.

The Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) is a specialist capability within the ambulance service required to extend paramedic care to patients within the inner cordon or hot zone. The aim of the HART capability is to increase survival rates and improve clinical outcomes by extending NHS care into hazardous areas or environments to reduce care gaps. These situations may include large-scale major incidents or routine incidents.

HART Education Managers receive extensive training in specialist capabilities and safe systems of work. They are expected to be proficient in using a wide range of specialist protective clothing and incident management. Detailed criteria for the HART Education Manager role are available within the Job Description and Person Specification.

Applicants should be aware that HART is both a national and local ambulance capability. In large-scale incidents, staff may be required to work nationally anywhere in the UK. Due to the complex and specialist nature of HART, staff will need to attend local and national exercises and residential training courses.

The HART Education Manager will be responsible for a portfolio of HART education, training, and development, providing subject matter expertise as allocated by the HART Training & Development Manager. The role involves leadership, mentorship, and training across all key capability areas. This position offers an exciting opportunity for career development for someone dedicated to maintaining high standards and advancing HART practices.

We aim for the successful candidate to start as soon as possible. Shortlisted candidates will attend an interview day, which includes a micro project related to HART education and planning, as well as a question paper based on Ambulance command and control guidance, SOPs, and Pro-Clus. Candidates must also hold an in-date HART PCA and meet PPE weight restrictions of no more than 115kg.

Benefits include:

  • 27 days holiday entitlement, rising to 29 days after 5 years and 33 days after 10 years, plus 8 bank holidays (pro rata for part-time).
  • Automatic enrolment into the NHS Pension Scheme.
  • Access to professional development within SCAS and the NHS.
  • Occupational Health support, Employee Assistance Programme, and Health and Wellbeing Team.
  • NHS Discounts at over 200 stores.
  • Opportunity to join staff networking groups.

Induction and Training:

All new starters will attend a Corporate Induction held over one and a half days at one of our educational centres in Newbury, Bicester, or Whiteley. Additional role-specific training may be required following induction. Details will be provided once your start date is confirmed.
