About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and qualified Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy Team at Timaru Hospital on a fixed-term basis to cover parental leave. This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys working in a collaborative hospital environment where patient care is at the centre of everything we do. The hours of work will be across five days, Monday to Friday mornings commencing at 8.30am.
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play an integral role in supporting the delivery of safe and effective pharmacy services across the hospital. Working alongside pharmacists and wider clinical teams, you will contribute to medication dispensing, stock management, ward support, and patient-focused care. This role offers variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to further develop your hospital pharmacy experience within a supportive team environment.
Our ideal candidate will be a positive team player with excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and a genuine passion for healthcare and patient wellbeing. You will enjoy working in a fast-paced setting and be confident building relationships with colleagues, patients, and clinical staff alike.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A recognised Pharmacy Technician qualification and relevant registration (where applicable)
- Previous pharmacy experience, ideally within a hospital setting
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- The ability to work effectively in a busy and fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service skills and empathy towards patients
- Good computer literacy and confidence learning new systems
