Job Description
We are currently recruiting for Refuse Loaders to work for South Cambridgeshire District Council on a temporary-to-permanent basis.
As a Refuse Loader, you will work as part of a collection crew, helping to collect household waste and recycling across the local area.
This is a physically demanding role.
You can expect to walk between 20 and 30 steps per day and regularly lift and move bins, some of which can be heavy.
Key Responsibilities
- Loading and emptying household waste and recycling bins.
- Working as part of a team to complete daily collection routes.
- Walking long distances throughout the working day.
- Lifting and moving heavy bins safely.
- Working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Following health and safety procedures at all times.
- Taking care when working around the refuse collection vehicle and other road users.
- Completing collection routes safely and efficiently.
- The working hours are 6:00am - 3:45pm, Tuesday to Friday.
You will be paid for the full scheduled working day, although crews will typically finish earlier once their route has been completed.
About You
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual work.
- Able to walk 20,-30 steps per day.
- Comfortable lifting and moving heavy bins.
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Health and safety conscious.
- Able to work well as part of a team.
- Able to reliably travel to work for a 6:00am start.
