We are seeking a motivated and organised Purchaser to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in Dorset. This is a key role within their busy operations team, ensuring that materials, components, and services are sourced cost-effectively, delivered on time, and aligned with our quality standards. This is a full-time permanent position.
37 hours per weekβOption for 4 day week!
Key Responsibilities
- Negotiate competitive pricing and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings.
- Liaise with colleagues to provide updates on purchasing status and resolve supply issues.
- Source and evaluate quotes as required.
- Identify alternative suppliers for long-lead or out-of-stock items.
- Monitor and progress orders to meet delivery deadlines, following up on late shipments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Suggest and implement process improvements as part of the companyβs Continuous Improvement programme.
- Provide support and cover for other members of the Purchasing team when needed.
- Carry out general administrative tasks and ad hoc duties as required.
About You
- Proficient in Excel with the ability to confidently navigate and manage spreadsheets.
- Skilled in using Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in a busy office environment, ideally within light manufacturing.
- Previous purchasing experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Able to meet all requirements for BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance.
