South Ayrshire Council provides a wide range of employability opportunities for people in South Ayrshire in order to support them in gaining experience, training and employment. This programme is part of the council’s youth employability initiative. We are committed to offering career development opportunities for young people within South Ayrshire and to comply with the conditions of funding from skills development Scotland, applicants must fall into the following categories before the start date of 21st July 2025:

  • 19 years of age or under
  • 29 years of age or under and be a care experienced young person
  • 29 years of age or under and have additional support needs

We have 2 Modern Apprenticeship Posts with our Health and Wellbeing Team in the Active Schools Team. The practical assessment centre and competency based interview will take place week commencing 9th June 2025.

REQUIREMENTS

This post is considered to be Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) (PVG) Act 2007. Accordingly, the preferred candidate will be required to become a member of the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if already a Scheme member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made. If you wish further information on the PVG Scheme you can visit the Disclosure Scotland website at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk. Please note you may be required to meet PVG costs.

This post is temporary until 20/07/2026. The grade of this post is Modern Apprentice.

Rates of Pay:

  • For candidates under 18, the rate of pay will be £7.55
  • For candidates aged 18 - 20, the rate of pay will be £10.00
  • For candidates aged 21 and over, the rate of pay will be £12.21

The work style for this post is Frontline worker.
