South Ayrshire Council provides a wide range of employability opportunities for people in South Ayrshire in order to support them in gaining experience, training and employment. This programme is part of the council’s youth employability initiative. We are committed to offering career development opportunities for young people within South Ayrshire and to comply with the conditions of funding from skills development Scotland, applicants must fall into the following categories before the start date of 03 August 2026:
- 19 years of age or under
- 29 years of age or under and be a care experienced young person
For those applying for the Electrician position, you will be required to undertake a mandatory SECCT Test on 26 June 2026. The practical assessment centre will take place week commencing 29 June 2026. The competency based interview will take place week commencing 06 July 2026.

Rates of Pay:
- For candidates under 18, the rate of pay will be £8.00 per hour
- For candidates aged 18 - 20, the rate of pay will be £10.85 per hour
- For candidates aged 21 and over, the rate of pay will be £12.71 per hour
The work style for this post is Frontline worker. The work pattern is: Monday 8:00am - 4.30pm; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8:00am - 4.00pm; Friday 8.00am - 3.00pm.
