South Ayrshire Council provides a wide range of employability opportunities for people in South Ayrshire in order to support them in gaining experience, training and employment. This programme is part of the council’s youth employability initiative. We are committed to offering career development opportunities for young people within South Ayrshire and to comply with the conditions of funding from Skills Development Scotland, applicants must fall into the following categories before the start date of 3 August 2026:
- 19 years of age or under
- 29 years of age or under and be a care experienced young person
The practical assessment centre will take place on Friday 26 June 2026 and the competency based interview will take place on Monday 29 June 2026.

This post is considered to be Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) (PVG) Act 2007. Accordingly, the preferred candidate will be required to become a member of the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if already a Scheme member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made. Rates of Pay:
- For candidates under 18, the rate of pay will be £8.00 per hour.
- For candidates aged 18 - 20, the rate of pay will be £10.85 per hour.
- For candidates aged 21 and over, the rate of pay will be £12.71 per hour.
The work style for this post is Frontline worker.
