Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board is seeking a graduate surveyor with experience in non-domestic rating, who is interested in joining our organisation and helping us build upon our successes in delivering on the Assessor's statutory functions. We are keen to hear from talented trainee surveyors, who are currently progressing through their Assessment of Professional Competence. You should hold a RICS accredited qualification at degree level (or equivalent) and be a student member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Valuation Faculty).

There have been significant changes in the rating system in recent years, and we strive to build a stable and sustainable staffing structure with clear routes for progression, together with robust operational processes. You will be encouraged to put forward your views and ideas, as part of AVJB's collaborative working environment.

You will be allocated an extremely varied workload, being responsible for the survey and valuation of all relevant lands and heritages for the purposes of the Lands Valuation Acts and the Local Government Finance Act 1992. You will also be responsible for the discussion and negotiation of appeals with taxpayers and professional agents, preparing cases for presentation to the First-Tier Tribunal and, where appropriate, appearing as an expert witness at such hearings.

We very much recognise the importance of maintaining a positive workplace culture, so if you have a naturally positive, professional, and responsible attitude, coupled with the requisite skills, we would like to hear from you. AVJB offers outstanding terms and conditions, such as flexible working, generous annual leave entitlement and enrolment into an enviable local authority pension scheme. We operate a blended model of office & home working, and we are happy to discuss any particular needs of the successful candidate.

ABOUT US

Who We Are and What We Do: Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board has been established since 1996 and discharges jointly the functions of North, South and East Ayrshire Valuation authorities.
