Job Purpose
To provide an efficient, reliable and customer‑focused internal logistics service across all college sites, including the collection and delivery of internal post, reprographics orders, equipment, furniture and resources. The role also supports the Transport Manager by assisting with the routine inspection, relocation, and general upkeep of the college's fleet of vehicles to ensure compliance, cleanliness and operational readiness.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Internal Logistics and Delivery
- Collect and deliver internal post across all college sites following agreed scheduled routes.
- Collect and deliver reprographics orders to and from sites, ensuring materials reach departments promptly.
- Transport equipment, furniture and resources between campuses, ensuring safe handling and delivery.
- Respond to urgent requests for intra‑site movement of resources as required.
- Fleet Support and Vehicle Management
- Periodically conduct visual inspections of fleet vehicles, checking for roadworthiness indicators such as tyre condition, lights, bodywork, fluid levels and general defects, recording findings using designated checklists.
- Carry out basic cleaning and valeting of fleet vehicles to keep them clean, tidy and suitable for staff and student use.
- Relocate vehicles between sites based on operational demand or instructions from the Transport Manager.
- Take and collect fleet vehicles from local garages for repairs, maintenance, servicing, MOTs, safety checks and other works.
- Assist the Transport Manager with administrative or practical tasks related to the management of the college's fleet, including record keeping, fuel card management, inspection documentation and inventory checks.
- General Transport Support
- Work collaboratively with Transport colleagues to support wider estates and facilities activities when required.
- Ensure all tasks are completed in line with college policies, including health and safety, safeguarding, GDPR, lone working and vehicle use.
- Provide excellent customer service to staff, students and visitors at all times.

Physical Requirements
- Regular lifting, carrying and moving of parcels, furniture and equipment.
- Ability to drive college vehicles between sites throughout the day.
Safeguarding Statement
The post holder must comply with all safeguarding policies and attend mandatory training. As the role involves travel between locations and interaction with staff and learners, a satisfactory enhanced DBS check will be required.
