Job Title: Product Director Payment Orchestration
Location: Hybrid (UK-based, with occasional London HQ visits)
Salary: Up to £150,000 base + bonus
Company Overview
We are working with a well-established fintech business recently acquired by a larger European financial services group. This strategic acquisition has unlocked major investment in technology and platform innovation. The company is now scaling its payment orchestration capabilities to match enterprise-grade performance, resiliency, and flexibility across its global payments stack. With a strong developer-first culture and long-standing credibility in acquiring and card-present payments, the company is expanding its product leadership team to drive this next phase of growth.
Role Summary
As Product Director, you will take full ownership of the orchestration layer across the company's payment platform. This is a high-impact role, responsible for leading product strategy, roadmap definition, and cross-functional execution across engineering, partnerships, compliance, and commercial teams. You'll shape and scale a next-generation orchestration solution that rivals the quality, resilience, and configurability of leading European orchestration platforms.
You'll be deeply involved in product vision and direction but are equally comfortable rolling up your sleeves to get things shipped.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the end-to-end product strategy for the payment orchestration layer
- Collaborate closely with engineering and architecture teams to develop scalable, resilient orchestration infrastructure
- Lead discovery and design of orchestration features including smart routing, cascading, retries, multi-provider integrations, APMs, tokenisation, and transaction insights
- Partner with commercial and operational stakeholders to shape features that improve acceptance, cost control, and service quality
- Own key product metrics (latency, conversion, uptime, routing efficiency) and translate these into prioritised product initiatives
- Represent product in executive forums, communicating roadmaps, risks, and achievements
- Actively contribute to internal documentation, sprint rituals, backlog management, and agile team ceremonies
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience & Expertise
- 8+ years in product management, with at least 3+ years as a Product Director or equivalent
- Deep experience building or managing payment orchestration platforms across smart routing, gateway selection, retries, APMs, or tokenisation
- Strong technical background capable of working closely with engineering teams to scope APIs, developer tooling, and system reliability improvements
- Previous work with acquirers, PSPs, gateway providers, or platform-level orchestration products
- Experience working in or with companies that have recently scaled or transformed through acquisition is a plus
Skills & Attributes
- Strategic thinker with strong execution capability
- Excellent communicator able to translate complex technical topics to commercial and executive audiences
- Product-led mindset with a strong focus on data, metrics, and experimentation
- Adaptable and delivery-focused, able to thrive in fast-changing and evolving environments
- UK-based with full right to work
What Youll Get
- £150,000 base salary + performance bonus
- Hybrid working model with access to a London office
- Influence over one of the most critical product areas within the business
- Exposure to scaling infrastructure, global payment flows, and orchestration at scale
- A key leadership role in a business undergoing transformational growth following acquisition
- Collaborative culture with experienced engineering and product teams
