Position: Food Bank Operations Coordinator

Location: 2343 156 Street- Sources South Surrey-White Rock Food Bank

Hours: 28 hours/week (4 days)

Salary: $26.78/hour

Start Date: ASAP


We are looking for an Operations Coordinator to join our Food Security team! This individual should enjoy working with the public, physically capable of managing some front-line Food Bank responsibilities (capable of lifting 23 kgs/ 50lbs on a consistent basis) and committed to ensuring our most vulnerable community members have access to basic needs.

Description of Position:


Reporting to: Manager- Food Security

General Responsibilities:

  • Attends to the daily responsibilities of the Food Bank.
  • Backfills driver absences as scheduled or as needed.
  • Ensures the maintenance of program standards, policies, and program guidelines.
  • Ensures all Occupational Health and Safety requirements are met and that any incidents are reported in a timely manner.
  • Participates in COA accreditation and quality improvement and evaluation processes.
  • Engages in ongoing learning and professional development related to Indigenous histories, cultures, and perspectives and applying this knowledge to the workplace.
  • Creates and maintains a safe and welcoming environment within the organization and addresses any instances of discrimination, harassment or other forms of harmful behaviour that don’t support the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belongingness.
  • Represents Sources and actively promotes its objectives to clients, families, the public, other organizations, government, etc.

Program-specific Responsibilities:

  • Identifies volunteer needs and works with Volunteer Services to recruit and secure volunteers.
  • Leads and supports volunteers through orientation, training, supervision, and positive role modeling.
  • Schedules volunteers to ensure sufficient coverage.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of systems for the tracking, sorting, distribution and storage of all food and non-food products.
  • Ensures that distribution set up is complete (sorting, stocking shelves, etc.)
  • Completes administrative tasks in relation to monetary donations as required.
  • Promotes liaison with other community and regional agencies.
  • Prepares statistical information and reports as needed.
  • Ensures the rights, dignity, confidentiality, health, and safety of clients.
  • Ensures correct procedures for the release of information.
  • Provides relief in the absence of other staff or volunteers as needed.

  • Lifting/Pulling/Pushing - 75%, Walking/Moving Around - 75%, Sitting - 25%

Cognitive Demands of Job:

  • Independent Work - 75%, Task Memorization - 100%, Changing Priorities/Deadlines - 50%, Writing/Reading - 25%


Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ experience working in food security programs.
  • 2+ years’ experience working with the public, preference for experience working with vulnerable populations to with individuals who have experienced inequity and adversity.
  • 1+ years’ experience coordinating staff or volunteers.
  • Must possess a Class 5 driver's license with a clean drivers abstract and familiarity in driving extended cargo and cube vans.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft 365, database systems and statistical/reporting software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication.
  • Physically healthy and able to lift 23 kgs/50lbs on a consistent basis.
