Sources’ Volunteer Services is designed to support social wellness for individuals and communities through volunteerism. Through our programs, we provide direct services that help ensure health and wellness supports are accessible, while strengthening the organization’s overall mission through the power of volunteers.

We are seeking a motivated and community-minded Community Service Worker to support our programs. This role offers an excellent opportunity to explore the benefits of working in a non-profit environment, gain valuable knowledge of services available to the community, and actively contribute to supporting some of our most vulnerable members. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in program coordination, volunteer engagement, newcomer support, and community outreach, while helping foster inclusive and connected communities.

Description of Position:

Reporting to: Manager of Community & Volunteer Services

Responsibilities:

  • Provide front-line client service by working with older adults to deliver service in the areas of healthcare, transportation, housing, financial and food security.
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and the maintenance of volunteer records.
  • Support staff in assisting newcomers to Canada with basic settlement and engagement needs, including program preparation, client intake, workshop facilitation, administrative support.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, facilitation, and evaluation of community connection or conversation-based learning activities as needed.
  • Assist with the coordination of Sources’ annual summer events, including our participation in the White Rock Torchlight Parade and others.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education and/or experience in a related field such as Social Work, Human Services, Education, Community Support, or a similar discipline.
  • Experience working with newcomers, community programs, or diverse populations is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in French is mandatory.
  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment period.
  • Able to effectively use Office suite including Excel, Word, Outlook and central data systems.
  • Be flexible, detail oriented with strong organizational skills and possess an ability to take initiative, accept direction and work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Commitment to creating and maintaining an environment that values Equity, Diversity and Inclusiveness.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement in a demanding and continually changing work environment.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR an asset.
  • Criminal Records check through the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Records Review Program.
