Construction, Engineering & Trades Highway Maintenance Officer Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire Up to £250 / day

Opus People Solutions are hiring for x3 Highway Maintenance Officers within our Local Authority client, Cambridgeshire County Council.The role is 37 hours per week, offering flexible working between 07:00 and 19:00, with an operational hybrid working arrangement requiring attendance at a Cambridgeshire depot and site locations a minimum of 4 days per week. The position offers £250 per day Umbrella and is expected to run until March 2027.Please see a high-level overview of what the position involves below:* Carrying out routine highway safety inspections across roads, footways, cycleways and public rights of way.* Investigating reported defects, drainage issues and highway maintenance concerns.* Responding to highway incidents including flooding, traffic collisions, oil spills and other emergency situations.* Ordering, coordinating and monitoring highway maintenance works through contractors.* Planning and prioritising reactive, preventative and cyclical maintenance programmes.* Engaging with local communities, Parish and Town Councils, elected members and other key stakeholders.* Recording inspections, defects and customer enquiries through digital management systems.* Ensuring the highway network is maintained safely and in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and standards.The ideal candidate will have experience with:* Experience working within Highways & Transport in a similar role.* Reactive highway maintenance activities and coordinating emergency responses.* Highway inspections, defect identification and maintenance management.* Managing customer reports and enquiries through digital systems.* Working with elected members and managing stakeholder relationships proactively.* Highway legislation, maintenance standards and inspection procedures.* Working autonomously and making operational decisions in a fast-paced environment.* Community engagement and customer-focused service delivery.* Holding a current Highway Safety Inspector qualification with an in-date certificate.* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits.* Previous experience within Local Government.If this role is of interest to you, please submit a copy of your CV and a mobile number.All offers will be subject to satisfactory compliance screening, including right to work in the UK and references. #J-18808-Ljbffr
