We are seeking a technically capable and commercially minded Sales Engineer to join our client's growing team specialising in pump systems and fluid handling solutions. This role offers flexibility depending on the successful candidate’s background and experience. We are open to candidates seeking either an office-based technical sales and applications role with customer site visits (around £45k), or a more autonomous external sales position focused on developing new business and managing customer relationships across a wider territory (up to 48k).

The successful candidate will support customers from initial enquiry and pump selection through to quotation, contract review, aftermarket support, and ongoing account management. This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced technical sales professional within pumps or rotating equipment, or a hands-on engineer/applications specialist looking to move further into customer-facing technical sales.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle customer enquiries from initial consultation through to quotation, order processing, and aftersales support
  • Select and specify a wide range of pump technologies based on customer requirements and application needs
  • Provide technical guidance and support to customers across multiple industries, review technical specifications, drawings, and system requirements
  • Prepare quotations, proposals, and supporting technical documentation
Pump & Product Knowledge
  • Centrifugal pumps, rotary lobe pumps, progressive cavity pumps
  • AOD pumps, rotary vane pumps, gear pumps, piston pumps
  • Cold water booster sets
Account Management & Business Development
  • Maintain and develop relationships with existing customers and key accounts
  • Identify opportunities for additional business, upgrades, spares, and service work
  • Conduct customer site visits and provide technical support where required
  • Support new business development activities and identify new market opportunities
  • For candidates suited to a more external role, take ownership of customer relationships and regional business development activities with a high degree of autonomy
Spares, Projects & Operations
  • Identify spare parts from technical drawings, manuals, and BOMs
  • Source components and liaise with suppliers where required
  • Assist with project planning and purchasing activities and produce and maintain accurate bills of materials and associated documentation
  • Maintain accurate records and work in line with company procedures and quality standards
Candidate RequirementsEssential
  • Previous experience within pumps, fluid handling, rotating equipment, or a related engineering sector
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical or industrial equipment
  • Experience handling technical enquiries, quotations, or applications support
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Full UK driving licence
Desirable
  • Previous technical sales or external sales experience
  • Experience with centrifugal and positive displacement pumps
  • Knowledge of aftermarket/spares support
  • Experience working within ISO9001 quality systems
  • Engineering qualification (mechanical or related discipline)
