About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Machine Tool Fitter to join our client's brilliant team in Nuneaton. The successful candidate will be responsible for dismantling, cleaning, repairing, and reassembling precision grinding machines and other workshop equipment. This is a hands-on, workshop-based role ideal for someone with a strong background in mechanical fitting, machine tools, and fault diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities
- Strip down grinding machines and other precision equipment.
- Steam clean and prepare components for inspection and repair.
- Identify and repair mechanical faults, replacing worn or damaged parts as needed.
- Reassemble machines to a high standard, ensuring full operational functionality.
- Carry out routine maintenance and adjustments.
- Work from technical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to improve repair and rebuild processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Machine Tool Fitter, Mechanical Fitter, or similar role.
- Background working with machine tools (grinders, lathes, mills, etc.).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and precision assemblies desirable.
