SourceCo Recruitment are seeking a meticulous and hands-on Setter/Operator to join a specialist manufacturing company based in Redditch. The Role:
As a Setter/Operator, you will be responsible for setting and operating specialist rolling, bonding, and slitting machinery to produce high-precision materials to extremely tight tolerances. This role requires patience, excellent attention to detail, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work confidently with delicate materials. You will also support wider production activities and receive comprehensive training to become competent across a variety of specialist machinery.
Salary: Up to £30k per annum depending on experience
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00am - 17:00pm. Overtime opportunities available, including weekday evenings and occasional Saturday mornings.
Key responsibilities include:
- Set up and operate specialist rolling and bonding machinery to manufacture products to extremely precise tolerances.
- Operate slitting and shearing equipment, ensuring exceptional levels of accuracy, consistency, and quality.
- Measure, calculate, and process material lengths and quantities using Microsoft Excel and strong numerical ability.
- Handle fine and delicate materials with patience, concentration, and a meticulous eye for detail.
- Assist with a variety of manufacturing and production tasks across rolled products and other areas of the factory as required.
- Complete production documentation accurately while adhering to company quality standards and health & safety procedures.
- Continuously develop skills and gain competency across multiple specialist machines through comprehensive training.
What We're Looking For:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced transport professional who can confidently lead a busy operation while maintaining high standards of compliance, service, and efficiency.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability.
- A calm, patient, and focused approach to detailed manufacturing work.
- Good numerical skills and confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP would be advantageous.
- Comfortable learning and operating multiple machines.
- Flexible approach towards overtime when required.
- A commitment to long-term development, with full training expected to take 6-12 months.
Desirable experience:
- Previous experience within metal manufacturing or precision engineering.
- Experience working with strip or coiled metals.
- Previous rolling mill or slitting/shearing machine experience.
- Apprenticeship-trained background.
- Forklift Truck Licence.
- Full clean UK Driving Licence.
