Are you an experienced CNC Turner/Programmer looking for a role where you can genuinely use your programming skills, rather than simply setting and operating? This is an excellent opportunity to join a well established precision engineering business offering a permanent four day working week, strong earning potential and excellent long term stability.
Youll be responsible for programming, setting and operating 2 axis CNC turning machines, producing high quality, low volume precision components to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
The Role
- Write new CNC turning programmes from scratch at the machine
- Set and operate 2-axis CNC lathes
- Interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and surface finishes
- Select tooling, speeds, feeds and cutting conditions
- Edit and optimise existing programmes where required
- Carry out in-process inspection and ensure components meet required standards
- Produce one-off and low-to-medium volume precision components
- Work with a range of hard and soft metals
- Work on components ranging from approximately 25mm x 100mm up to 300mm x 3m
- Work independently with minimal supervision
About You
Youll need proven experience as a CNC Turner/Programmer, with the ability to confidently write programmes from scratch/long-hand at the machine. Essential experience includes:
- CNC turning programming, setting and operating
- Strong G-code knowledge
- Confident programming with minimal supervision
- Reading and working from engineering drawings
- Understanding of geometric tolerances and surface finishes
- Experience with one-off and low-volume precision machining
- A quality focused and self motivated approach
- Fanuc controls and Fanuc Manual Guide i experience would be advantageous.
Whats On Offer?
- Base rate of £18 - £21 per hour, depending on experience
- Monday to Wednesday: 4:30pm - 3:30am
- Thursday: 4:30pm - 1:00am
- Every Friday off
- Late shift premium paid at time plus one third
- 28 days holiday including Bank Holidays
- Additional Christmas shutdown holiday
