Trainee Setter / Operator Location: Redditch Hours: Monday–Thursday, 08:00–16:30 | Friday, 08:00–15:00 (15-minute AM break and 30-minute PM break each working day) Salary: £27k per annum The Role SourceCo Recruitment are looking for a hands-on, mechanically minded individual to join an established manufacturing business in Redditch as a Trainee Setter / Operator. This is a great opportunity to learn a rare and highly specialised trade, operating bespoke machinery used to manufacture copper and silver-bonded contact rivets. No previous experience is necessary, as full training will be provided over approximately 12–18 months. Key Responsibilities * Learn to set up, operate and maintain specialised heading machines. * Develop an understanding of tooling, machine settings and production processes. * Monitor machine performance and ensure products are manufactured to the required quality standards. * Carry out product inspections and quality checks throughout production. * Maintain tooling and develop basic toolmaking skills to keep equipment in good working condition. * Identify and resolve basic mechanical or production issues, escalating where necessary. * Work towards independently operating up to four machines. * Follow all health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised working environment. * Work closely with experienced colleagues and your mentor to develop technical knowledge and practical skills. The successful candidate will be: * Self-motivated, enthusiastic and willing to learn. * Mechanically minded, with excellent practical, hands-on skills. * A confident problem-solver with good analytical skills. * Comfortable working with numbers and applying mathematical principles. * Able to maintain concentration and attention to detail. * A good communicator, both verbally and in writing. * Able to work independently and as part of a team. * Computer literate, with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. * Reliable, punctual and flexible when required. * Proactive, with a positive, can-do attitude. * Willing to undertake all necessary internal and external training. Desirable Skills and Qualifications * An apprenticeship in a relevant discipline. * A valid forklift truck licence. * A full, clean UK driving licence.
