SourceCo Recruitment are working in partnership with a large scale, highly invested food manufacturing business based in Herefordshire, supporting the recruitment of a Quality Assurance Manager as part of continued team development and growth. This opportunity sits within a high volume and fast paced production environment that has seen significant recent investment in technology, systems, and infrastructure. The successful candidates will play a key role in driving food safety, quality, and compliance standards across site operations.
The Role
As a Quality Assurance Manager, you will be a key member of the site Quality team, responsible for maintaining and developing robust quality and food safety systems. You will lead and develop Quality Team Leaders and Auditors while ensuring all products meet legal, customer, and internal specifications. This role offers genuine responsibility, visibility, and the opportunity to influence standards and continuous improvement within a modern food manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and develop the Quality Management System and HACCP documentation
- Lead, manage, and develop the Quality Assurance team, including performance management and development
- Complete internal audits in line with audit schedules and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Drive continuous improvement across quality and food safety controls
- Review quality data, manage non-conformances, and ensure effective root cause analysis
- Ensure product, packaging, and ingredient specifications are current and compliant
- Monitor and audit production operations to ensure customer requirements are met
- Provide technical support for customer questionnaires and technical enquiries
- Support NPD and Commercial teams with trials and first production runs
- Play an active role in customer and third-party audits
- Deputise for the Site Technical Manager when required
Experience & Requirements:
Essential
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Food Safety (or equivalent)
- Recognised HACCP qualification for food manufacturing
Desirable
- Experience managing teams within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment
- Strong auditing experience against quality and regulatory standards
- Confident communicator with strong problem-solving and change management skills
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to work on own initiative
- Good PC literacy
- Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or related discipline
