SourceCo Recruitment are seeking an experienced and driven Transport Manager to lead transport operations within a fast-paced logistics environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in improving operational performance, ensuring compliance, enhancing fleet efficiency, and delivering outstanding customer service within a growing and ambitious business.
The Role:
As Transport Manager, you will take full responsibility for leading and developing UK and international transport operations, ensuring all movements are carried out safely, efficiently, compliantly, and in a cost-effective manner while maintaining exceptional levels of customer service.
Salary: £45,000 per annum
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00am – 17:00pm
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee daily fleet operations, ensuring maximum vehicle availability, compliance, and effective preventative maintenance.
- Ensure full adherence to Operator Licence requirements, road transport legislation, and company procedures.
- Monitor and manage driver compliance, including tachograph regulations, drivers’ hours, and working time requirements.
- Plan and optimise UK and European transport activities to improve efficiency, service levels, and profitability.
- Manage operational challenges proactively, implementing effective solutions to minimise disruption.
- Lead, motivate, and develop drivers and transport personnel through regular coaching, training, and performance support.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and promote a strong health & safety culture.
- Support customs processes and cross-border transport activities where required.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.
What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced transport professional who can confidently lead a busy operation while maintaining high standards of compliance, service, and efficiency.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Transport Manager CPC qualification (Road Transport Operations).
- Strong understanding of Operator Licensing, transport compliance, and road transport legislation.
- Proven experience managing transport operations, drivers, and fleet activities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience managing budgets, controlling costs, and improving operational performance.
- Strong IT skills with excellent attention to detail and administrative accuracy.
Desirable Experience:
- Knowledge of ADR shipments and dangerous goods transportation.
- Understanding of customs procedures and post-Brexit cross-border transport requirements.
- Flexibility to travel to other locations when required.
