Our client, a well-established business based in Reading, is currently recruiting for a Yard Operative to join their team on a temporary to permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and hardworking individual with a valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence who is looking for long-term career prospects within a growing company.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday only whilst on the temporary contract
- Shifts will be either: 7:00am – 4:30pm or 7:30am – 5:00pm depending on business needs
- Once permanent, you will work 2 Saturdays per month on a rotating 2 on / 2 off basis
Duties Include
- Assisting customers with selecting and loading building materials while providing excellent customer service and product advice
- Picking and packing stock for company deliveries
- Loading company vehicles accurately and safely
- Unloading supplier vehicles, checking goods in, and putting stock away
- Operating a mixed fleet of diesel and electric FLTs, including multi-directional and Teletruck forklifts, plus loading shovel equipment (full training provided where required)
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across the yard and warehouse
- Carrying out daily forklift and plant checks, with weekly cleaning duties
- Supporting wider business operations and assisting other teams when needed
- Playing an active role in supporting the company’s continued growth
Candidate Requirements
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence essential
- Full UK Driving Licence essential
- Previous yard, warehouse, or builders merchant experience preferred
- Strong work ethic and team player attitude
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment safely and efficiently
