Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Import Coordinator to join their team. This is a pivotal role within the logistics department, where you’ll take ownership of the customs clearance process, ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, and work closely with logistics teams and government bodies to ensure smooth import operations. If you have a strong background in customs clearance and a keen eye for detail, this role offers an excellent opportunity to grow within a structured and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and complete daily customs clearance entries from start to finish for all courier and cargo imports (Air & Road).
  • Monitor Duty and VAT using internal systems and software.
  • Ensure compliance with all customs requirements and HMRC regulations, including liaising with border force and EU customs.
  • Communicate with internal departments regarding shipments, providing regular updates as required.
  • Liaise with airlines for BI and shed transfers, arranging collections for transfer to ETSF.
  • Work directly with HMRC and other government bodies to make amendments, reclaims, and ensure compliance.
  • Conduct weekly bond checks for the ETSF warehouse and release shipments as required.
  • Oversee the import warehouse operation, monitoring processes and procedures to ensure efficiency.
  • Handle a variety of commodities and resolve queries quickly and efficiently.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.

Experience & Skills Required:

Essential:

  • Previous experience in courier import operations.
  • Familiarity with low-value bulk clearance (BIRDS).
  • Proficient in using CDS (Customs Declaration Service).
  • Strong IT skills and ability to use internal systems effectively.
  • Self-managing, proactive, and able to work well in a team environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Descartes (e-customs) and NCTS-T1’s.
  • Strong knowledge of customs clearance systems and procedures.
