Job Description
Are you a skilled Credit Underwriter with strong knowledge of the German SME market? Our client, a leading international finance provider, is seeking a fluent German speaker to join their growing underwriting team in Bracknell.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in assessing credit risk and enabling sustainable growth for SMEs across Germany.
The Role
Assess SME lending applications, using both data and judgment to make sound credit decisions.
Act as the expert on German SME risk, ensuring robust, market-relevant underwriting.
Analyse financial statements and spot risks early, applying a rigorous, solutions-focused approach.
Collaborate with product, sales, operations, and risk teams to balance commercial and credit quality goals.
Help refine underwriting processes, introducing automation and improving decision-making speed.
About You
Experienced in SME credit underwriting (bank, fintech, or leasing company preferred).
Fluent German speaker (written & spoken) – essential.
Strong knowledge of financial and non-financial SME risk factors.
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to analyse data and financial statements.
Strong communication skills – able to explain decisions clearly to stakeholders.
Comfortable using Excel/databases to support credit analysis.
Desirable: Experience in asset-backed financing or leasing; SQL knowledge.
