Working Hours: Monday to Friday. Shifts are either 7:00am-4:30pm or 7:30am-5:00pm, depending on business needs. 2 Saturdays per month on a rotating 2 on / 2 off basis.
About the Role: Our client is a well-established business in Reading looking for a reliable and hardworking Yard Operative to join their team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence who wants a long-term career with a growing company.
Your Duties:
- Help customers choose and load building materials, providing good customer service and product advice.
- Pick and pack stock for company deliveries.
- Load company vehicles safely and accurately.
- Unload supplier vehicles, check deliveries and put stock away.
- Operate a range of forklifts, including diesel and electric FLTs, multi-directional and Teletruck forklifts, and loading shovel equipment.
- Complete daily forklift and plant checks.
- Keep the yard and warehouse clean, tidy and safe.
- Carry out weekly cleaning duties.
- Support other teams and help with the day-to-day running of the business.
Full training will be provided where needed.
What We’re Looking For:
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence - essential.
- Full UK Driving Licence - essential.
- Previous experience in a yard, warehouse or builders’ merchant is preferred.
- Reliable, hardworking and willing to get stuck in.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Able to work safely and efficiently in a busy environment.
- A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
