Fabulous independent media agency, looking for a Strategist or Senior Strategist to join their team. This is a hands-on strategy role combining comms planning leadership, client advisory, and team development. You’ll work across client projects and agency collaborations, helping to shape impactful communications strategies rooted in data, insight, and creativity. You will be both a doer and a coach — building brilliant strategies, guiding others to do the same, and raising the strategic bar of everything we produce.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate client business and marketing briefs into powerful communications strategies.
- Deliver insight-driven thinking across paid, owned, earned and shared channels.
- Lead the creation and evolution of planning frameworks, measurement plans, and campaign strategies.
- Develop strategic narratives that connect data with creative opportunity and media rationale.
- Ensure media and creative recommendations are rooted in comms strategy and effectiveness thinking.
- Provide strategic leadership and planning support on new business pitches and major projects.
- Take on a specialism within comms strategy (e.g. attention, measurement, audience behaviours) to champion internally and externally.
- Act as a key strategic contact for multiple client relationships — some hands-on, some advisory.
- Build trusted, long-term relationships with senior clients, rooted in business understanding and strategic value.
- Facilitate integrated working across agency partners, particularly creative and media.
- Guide and run campaign planning processes with clients, adapting approach to suit individual client styles.
- Understand clients’ broader business models and commercial contexts, tailoring strategy accordingly.
Key Requirements
- 7+ years’ experience in a media, communications or integrated agency environment.
- Proven experience developing and delivering communications strategies across channels.
- Strong understanding of media planning principles, including paid, owned, earned and shared.
- Comfortable working closely with creative and media partners to bring strategies to life.
- Confident client lead — able to adapt approach, influence decisions, and lead campaign planning processes.
- Skilled in coaching others, providing strategic guidance, and developing team members.
- Proficient in using planning tools such as GWI, TGI, YouGov, and interpreting audience and performance data.
- Strong communicator and presenter — with polished slides and clear storytelling.
- High level of comfort with Excel/Google Sheets for data work.
- An openness to using AI tools to enhance strategic input and research.
- A genuine interest in ongoing learning — from comms theory to cultural trends.
