Commercial Lead - Luxury Lighting & Homeware Brand - Remote (with some travel to the US and Europe)
A luxury lighting company are looking for a commercially minded operator who knows the domestic lighting market and wants to professionalise how this company win, fulfil and grow business. This is a hands-on Commercial Lead role: you will put process around sales, open new routes to market (showrooms, trade partners and trade shows), and keep warehouse and fulfilment relationships working cleanly across the UK, US and Europe. There will be some travel across Europe and the US.
You will own the commercial engine β pipeline, pricing discipline, partner coverage and the operational follow-through that turns orders into reliable deliveries.
What you will do:
Sales, process and growth
- Build and run a simple, repeatable sales process: enquiry handling, quoting, follow-up, conversion tracking and forecasting.
- Drive revenue through existing channels and by opening new ones β showrooms, specialist retailers, interior designers, trade accounts and specification routes.
- Identify, approach and close showroom and display partnerships in priority markets.
- Plan and execute a trade-show calendar (selection, stand brief, pre-show outreach, on-stand selling, post-show follow-up).
- Professionalise commercial hygiene: price lists, discount authority, lead times, sample policy, CRM hygiene and weekly pipeline reviews.
- Work with product and marketing so collections, samples and collateral support what the market actually buys.
Operations and warehouse relationships
- Own day-to-day commercial relationships with third-party warehouses and 3PLs in the UK, US and Europe.
- Agree SLAs, stock visibility, inbound/outbound routines, returns handling and exception escalation.
- Coordinate stock allocation across regions so showroom, trade and e-commerce demand is not fighting over the same inventory.
- Spot fulfilment friction (late despatch, damage, incomplete orders) and close the loop with operations and suppliers.
- Support landed-cost thinking: freight, duties, packaging and minimum order quantities that keep margins honest.
Professionalising the business
- Turn founder-led selling into documented process that others can follow.
- Introduce light-touch reporting: weekly pipeline, monthly revenue vs plan, showroom performance, warehouse KPIs.
- Bring commercial discipline without adding bureaucracy β templates, checklists and clear owners.
- Represent the company professionally with partners, venues and logistics providers.
What you bring
- Proven commercial experience in domestic / residential lighting, or a closely adjacent interiors category (furniture, decorative electrical, luxury home).
- A track record of growing sales through process, not only personal relationships β CRM use, structured follow-up, conversion discipline.
- Experience opening or managing showroom, trade or retail display partnerships.
- Comfortable at trade shows: planning, selling on the stand and converting leads afterwards.
- Practical experience working with warehouses / 3PLs, ideally across more than one region (UK, US or EU).
- Numerically literate: margins, discounting, stock cover, simple forecasts.
- Excellent written and spoken English; additional European language useful but not required.
- Willingness to travel to partners, warehouses and shows.
How you work
- Driven to raise standards. You notice when quoting, samples or fulfilment look amateur and you fix it.
- Commercially hungry but operationally grounded β you do not hand problems off and walk away.
- Organised, direct and low-ego. You would rather ship a clean process this month than a perfect system next year.
- Credible with showroom buyers, lighting specifiers and warehouse managers alike.
- Comfortable in a growing business where you still do the work yourself.
Measures of success (first 12 months)
- A working sales process and CRM that leadership actually uses.
- A defined showroom / trade-partner map with new live displays in priority territories.
- A planned trade-show programme with measurable pipeline from each event.
- Clear owners and SLAs with UK, US and European warehouse partners; fewer fulfilment surprises.
- Visible improvement in quote-to-order conversion and on-time fulfilment.
This company are growing and this is an exciting opportunity to help build upon and drive this
growth. They have a brilliant culture and really look after employees highlighted by how long candidates stay.
