Hybrid available but role requires regular presence in Fareham. Source Solutions are working with a highly regarded and very technical consultancy who develop cutting edge engineering and automated solutions, to identify an experienced and eager Mechanical Design Engineer for their key automation and robotics projects.

The position would suit someone who has designed automated special purpose machinery such as production machinery, robot cells etc or other specialist robotic systems for commercial purposes. This consultancy works with prestigious clients and on some truly exciting projects globally and are continually growing in size and reputation.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will firstly be employed to work closely with electronic and software engineers on a redesign project relating to a robotic retrieval system and, as such, would be involved in numerous aspects ranging from fabrication (for enclosures) to controls engineering, motor and components calculations and selection and more.

Whilst the role is heavily design-focused, the Mechanical Design Engineer will also have opportunities for international travel for some parts of installation works or on-site troubleshooting post-installation and so the role requires someone who is capable in a hands-on capacity as well.

Within the position, there is plenty of opportunity to learn and develop within a small and very collaborative team of skilled engineers. The Mechanical Design Engineer will also be the first employee of this skillset and so may see opportunities for career growth emerge as the business continues to grow.

Mechanical Design Engineer Profile:
  • Strong experience in Solidworks
  • Experience in designing automated systems and/or robotics – mechatronics experience
  • Education in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
  • Good knowledge of things like servo controls, motor sizing, motion and tolerance calculations, pneumatics
  • Ability to work alone but also to collaborate with other engineers and disciplines
